I thought it'd be easier for me to condense them into one post, so that I won't be posting 20 questions, if it's ok.
1. I know that things are largely personal preference, but I'm unsure of consecration. I don't want to do it the wrong way, if there is a "right" way to do it. On the other hand, I need to know if the method can vary. I haven't set up my altar yet, because I don't have incense. Can I substitute it? Does there have to be the 4 elements incorporated, or can you just use salted water, or moon water, or blow on it? If it doesn't matter as long as the intent is there, then I have my answer.
I am in no hurry to do any magick. And when I do, I think it'll mostly be protection/ energy dispelling (if that's a thing).
2. I know you aren't supposed to use any spells on anyone else unless they ask....Does that apply to your children too? Like, if I wanted to try to find something that would help my son stop bedwetting? Or sewing herbs into his pillow?
3. I have about 4 pdf books right now. I'm currently going through Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft, but it is quickly becoming overwhelming, between the books, and searching online. So I am thinking about picking a subject to study in depth in between my daily reading of the books. And I think I'm going to start with deities. Can you recommend a few Greek gods and goddesses to start with? (If I go to google I know I'm going to end up trying to learn about 8 at once) ...I know of a few of them that I can still remember, but can't remember if they are Greek or Roman.
Ok, I think that covers it for now. My most pressing questions anyway. I've got the very basics down, now I just need to slow down. Part of the problem is that as I am reading books, I try to write it in my BOS, and I'm wondering if I should read through them first, and then go through again and skip to what I know I want to write down. I suck at studying lol. Once my brain discovers something I am passionate about learning, it goes full throttle until I've learned everything I can or burn out. :/
Questions About Consecration, Spellwork and Deities
Re: Multiple Questions
I'm a newbie at this too sunshine, but if there's anything I've leaned it's that not all the altar trappings are required for a ritual, or in this case, a consecration. The right way is to do it the way that speaks to you. There's not really a formal doctrine for that kind of thing unless you are joining a specific coven.I thought it'd be easier for me to condense them into one post, so that I won't be posting 20 questions, if it's ok.

On your second question, I've read that it's ok to cast spells for those who can't ask, like children and animals. In your case you are only trying to help your son so I don't see any issues with that.
For the third question, I personally like to read through a book first then take notes. I focused on the core books before hitting the books on deities and mythology, I found it easier on my brain when I did so. Buckland's work is an excellent way to get started. I also like Thea Sabin and Scott Cunningham.
A starting point on Greek Gods/Goddesses to look up are Apollo (god of the sun), Artemis (goddess of the hunt and associated with the moon).
Hope this helps! Good luck!

No problem! Re: Multiple Questions
Sunshineinthedark,
May I interject here real quick ?
About your son...I had to have
medication to stretch my bladder
because it wasn't big enough to
hold it all night. Please check to
see if that's the case before you
use a spell that may not be right !
