I completely understand. The way I see it, if you were blessed with a gift and you truly wanted to do good you wouldn't charge such ridiculous prices.

Hopefully I can get some pointers on where to begin as time goes and I do further research. So many sources and not knowing what's reliable is overwhelming

Temple time sounds like something that the LDS church might charge. I know tithing is a big part of many Christian communities, but $1500 is more than my mortgage payment. Run, don't walk, from those types.

On this note, I would say to simply read as much as you can get your hands on. You may not understand all of it entirely at the beginning, but leave yourself a note somewhere if it piques your interest and you can always resurrect that interest at a later date once you've gotten a bit more figured out.

Not everything will be reliable, different people will tell you different things about different authors and resources, and there is a lot of faulty information floating around out there. All you can do is read everything, and as you come across the same topics by different authors and publishers you can start to cross-reference. See the difference between what one person says versus another. After awhile you'll start to see patterns, you'll have a better idea of what does and doesn't make sense and work for you, and you'll be able to start discerning between biases, different traditions, and when someone speaks from experience or hearsay.

It will take time, but don't restrict your reading to only "the best" resources. If you take a peek at our "What are you reading?" thread, you'll notice I've been working my way through a lot of "fluffy" books lately because even now I'm learning things from the newer books aimed toward teenagers who are just starting out. Even if I already have come across the vast majority, even if I can dismiss 80% of what's being written as not helpful to me, I'm still picking up new things and new perspectives.

Hey smokahontus,

If you're interested in learning a jinx-breaking/uncrossing ritual (if you really think there's something going on), I know a couple that might work. I'll tell you for free :)

No problem. :) I'm sure things will start to look up for you once you start practicing some regular cleansing/banishing schedules.
