There are a few books on handfasting, maybe you can
borrow them from library ? I've never done so I couldn't
tell you...Maybe someone else can ?

When my husband and I were handfasted, I wrote the vows. We had four attendants, each with a ribbon representing an Element. After we said our vows, each attendant tied a ribbon around our clamped hands and spoke an incantation of his or her own making. At the end, the minister pulled on our tied hands to be sure the bond would hold. Then she proclaimed that we were handfasted according to the Elements. Then we had to get people to untie us. They threatened not to.
