One year one day?

Postby enragedsprite » Thu May 07, 2015 7:36 pm

Hi, I so apologize if this is the wrong section of the forum to post this under, but I'm a... I guess self taught Wiccan? I live in the deep south, and there aren't really any "Witchy" people near me.

My issue is that, well... I live in the bible belt, and have been told I'd go to hell merely for my pentacle. It's that type of South.

I just know I need to go about doing the one day and one year thing, but there's no "Teachers" for me to follow, or covens to just ask for guidance.

.....So, any advice? How would a solitary witch go about, well, learning to be a witch!

Hi enragedsprite :)

I am on my year and a day currently and I am a big fan of books...big fan...anyways  There are some books that you can get that focus on year and a day, some are step-by-step directions for every day and others are more of a journal type book...I have also heard from some people in my area that they started their year and a day by following "a spell a day books" (they did not actually do the spell they just read about the spell and highlighted one or two things that interested, confused, or they didn't understand and they did daily research and reading on those topics via the internet) and some that got a witches calendar or day book and followed along with those. There are also some youtube channels where people have done daily videos on their own year and a day that you could base your journey off of.

I don't think any one way is better or worse at approaching a year and a day and I would just try to take it slow and build a strong theoretical foundation before jumping into heavy duty rituals and such. Also for getting your hands on books on witchcraft, if you are so inclined, and you do not own an ereader I think that amazon has a desktop ebook platform that is free so you could always buy the kindle version from them and read it on your computer if you have a hard time getting pagan books locally. :)
