TW:(painful menstruation) Any tips? here's some spells i got

Postby lithe_forager » Fri Dec 12, 2014 1:09 pm

so in my BOS i made a little page honoring and a sort of healing request thingie for all witches and goddesses suffering from womanly pains. a blessing to help one feel stronger during these times i'm sure it could be paired with crystals, tea, or even a belly balm to help cramps

"for all that carry the pain and beauty of our mother moon,
may we find comfort when our bodies are open and our souls are vulnerable"

affirmation:
I will find strength in my vulnerability, there is power in my femininity and i open myself without fear or shame

crystals that help: bloodstone, amethyst, agates(green moss), atlantisite

herbs: raspberry leaf, cramp bark, lavender

I am trying to see my period as a spiritual thing, but sometimes the pain is soo much i just wanna numb it all and sleep all day. sometimes i loathe it but working on finding power in it.

When I was younger, the pain was crippling. I would have to stay home sick from school for a few days every month because I wasn't able to walk, eat, sleep. Nothing helped and I had to wait it out.

When I got older it became more manageable. But if I knew then what I know now, I would have asked my GP for birth control recommendations that help with that kind of cramping pain.

I would still recommend bringing it up to your GP. Best case scenario, they can prescribe you something stronger for pain management. Worst case scenario, ovarian cysts are a thing.

i have so many hospital bills yuck and all they wanna give me is pain pills for whatever is goin on down there. i tried birth control, but it made me feel out of control.
bleh im on it right now, but self medicate i guess. i've tried lots of supplements nothing so far
appreciate the advice. i should keep trying just as soon as i finish paying this 800 ambulance ride. help someone bring me snacks and watch sailor moon/ me cry, that always helps or makes me feel better bout being a baby. I also blame lack of knowledge of the doctors and scientific lady studies.

Hey, lithe_forager.
Your thread made me remember what I was told before I gave birth to my kid - that the pain will be the same as the pain you get when you have your period, just a little stronger. Which made no sense to me as before I gave birth I've never experienced pain during period. As that changed, I looked through about gazillion methods to get rid of it, except for painkillers, because I just don't like pills.
So, the best method I have is to put your feet in a basin of cold water and start warming it by pouring hot water in the basin until all the water becomes hot.
Yet I would also suggest visiting a doctor if you want some medicine for your pain.

Yuck, that sounds like a painful bill to be looking at. I can understand why you'd be hesitant to add more on top of it!
I wouldn't consider menstrual pain to be a "babyish" kind of pain at any rate. :) Maybe only by people who don't realize how bad it can get.

Snacks and movies are good, distractions are your best friend.

There is a book that helped me quit a bit...Sister Moon Lodge
by Kisma Stepanich...now, just to let you know, this author has been accused of some shady journalistic practices, but I found the book helped me look at my period from a whole new perspective, the more I embraced it, the more it empowered me, the less I hurt. I don't know if it is in print anymore.
