Spell for Positive Mental Health

Postby Sakura Blossom » Mon Apr 07, 2014 12:00 am

It's nothing special as it's my very first spell I wrote myself, but after saging the house, I finally felt that everything was... Happy and pure enough within this home to start doing magickal workings. I did some today outside, but I had yet to try doing candle magick. I've been really stressed, and depressed and angry recently, so I did something to help try and relieve some of that.

Basically, what I did, was my usual while starting up at the altar (anoint, say the blessing, and meditate for a little bit). I then called upon my personal deity and asked for her assistance. I used a red candle for courage and strength, and carved in the side the word happy, after anointing the candle with patchouli for a good state of mind and peacefulness as well as for the smell to work as an antidepressant.

I sat there, and thirteen times said (this is just personal for me, the number 13 is my lucky number so to speak. Haha):

"Grant me strength to feel well,
Good bye feelings of anger and despair,
Nothing but light and joy will be felt from here on out,
While leaving room for the occasional shout."

I let the candle keep burning as well. Hopefully it will work. I haven't done a real candle spell in years. The last time I did it, I blessed a penny for good luck before an interview while job searching. Haha.

From someone who works with mental health, your spell is very well written. I especially respect you for the fact that you acknowledge that you may still have to leave a situation and have a bit of a shout about it. Well done. :flyingwitch:
Does anyone know where I can score some chronic mugwort?

Thank you, I appreciate it! I deal with mental health difficulties and I work within it as well. (: Well, somewhat. I'm still in the school phase, but I really appreciate that. (:

I like how simple it is. I also like how you are setting aside the area for your altar and ritual work as just that and are going to leave for any time you are upset. I do think that occasionally doing a spell to relieve anger or help you remove the sources of anger or frustration (even if it is your mental health issues that are the frustration) while angry or frustrated can add power to the spell and help it work even better as you have the emotional energy at that point. In general though I think its a great idea. I don't cry in my ritual room. If I get frustrated while I am working I leave the room to deal with it.

Thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately, I have no choice BUT to cry in my room where I do my rituals because it's in my room. Haha. Seeing as how I'm still living at home, I can't put it anywhere else, so I can't avoid doing that. But, it has seemed to work a bit better. (:

I love this, this is something I would benefit from myself. You've inspired me :)
