new adventure...

Postby MsMollimizz » Thu May 08, 2014 5:43 pm

I'm considering looking into Reiki, but since I don't have any more room
for many more books I thought I'd check here which Reiki books you would
recommend so I can get a lot of good information and instructions without
having to buy the whole section ! Hubby's on me about getting rid of a lot
of my stuff before I can bring more in...
So gentle people, I await your recommendations !

I recommend the following books:

Essential Reiki: A Complete Guide to an Ancient Healing Art by Diane Stein

The Original Reiki Handbook of Dr. Mikao Usui by Mikao Usui and Christine M. Grimm

and Reiki and the Seven Chakras: Your Essential Guide by Richard Ellis

One thing you need to know about Reiki is that you can't really learn how to practice it from a book. In order to practice Reiki you need to have an attunement from a Reiki Master. They are the ones that will open the passage for this specific energetic force allowing you to harness it and use it. They also train you on the process of using the hand positions.

There are three degrees in Reiki. The first degree you learn to treat yourself and your friend/family with the hand positions. The second degree teaches the symbols and is Master level. The third degree is Master Teacher which means you have Mastered it enough that you can now teach it to others. There is another symbol taught here and the process of atunement is taught here as well.

All that being said I see no harm in reading about the history and the way the practice is used to give you an idea of what you would be "getting into" as it were with an attunement. It is a good idea to be informed before getting involved with any sort of practice. The books can also get you some what familiar with the concepts of the chakras and the energetic forces in the chakras as well as where the basic hand positions are. I must stipulate again that you wont be practicing Reiki until you have an attunement from a Master though.

The books I would recommend are:

The Magick of Reiki by Christopher Penczak (talks about reiki from a magic and witchcraft perspective)

Essential Reiki: A Complete Guide to an Ancient Healing Art by Diane Stein

Reiki The Healing touch First and Second degree Manual by William Rand <<May only be available from Teacher to Student (Got mine as part of the training process, but I am not 100% sure)

Thank you for your post !
At this time I have no avenues to a Reiki healer,
So I'll wait, until the timing is right !
Thanks again
