Dream Journal - Sunflower
Dream Journal - Sunflower
I dug a hole, not too deep, and not too shallow, out in the back yard of my familys house, in the rain. It's mostly just dirt, with a bit of grass growing at the very edges. Once the hole was done, I placed a seed inside, picked up a container with rain water and poured it directly over the seed. I covered the seed with the wet dirt and not even a few seconds later it began to sprout and a tiny leaf began to push it's way past the hard dirt. I stepped back, watching in awe, and wonder as the flower grew, slowly turning, spiraling, until at the very end when the yellow petals of the sunflower shook themselves and the leaves spread themselves out, signaling the end of the growing process. And there before me stood a beautiful, glowing, and sparkling sunflower in all it's glory.
Re: Dream Journal - Sunflower
In this dream, you are taking an active part in the growth of this sunflower. Thus, the dreamer is actively developing whatever is symbolized by the sunflower.
A growing, healthy plant is usually a good sign in a dream. It almost certainly has something to do with the spiritual and psychological growth of the dreamer. Sometimes a plant will refer to a new skill or ability of the dreamer. Or, it could refer to the development of the self (a Jungian archetype). Either way, as the plant grows, so does the dreamer.
As its name suggests the sunflower is associated with the sun. The sun can have many possible meanings – virtually all of them very positive. The sun could symbolize strength, power, rational thinking, clarity of thought, things that are no longer hidden or the masculine.
Don’t take this “masculine” the wrong way. Each of us is going through a process of developing and growing into a more individualized person. This is sometimes called the individuation process. In the process of individuation, the masculine will become consciously integrated into a woman’s psyche. (In a similar manner, the man needs to incorporate the feminine.) The goal of the individuation process is for the person to become psychologically whole.
Another possible meaning for the sunflower, and thus the sun, is its referring to the 3rd chakra, which is sometimes called the solar plexus chakra. If this dream is a reference to the 3rd chakra, the dreamer may have experienced various 3rd chakra symptoms or had 3rd chakra dreams. Typical 3rd chakra dreams would be dreams with large cats – tiger, lions, leopards, jaguars etc.
Thanks for posting.
Hope this helps and is not too confusing,

Re: Dream Journal - Sunflower
It's not too confusing....just not that great with understanding dream interpretation.
I have been trying to get more in tune with my self. Using a lot of the free time I have to think about things, clarify what I want, and where I want to go in my life. That sort of thing, so maybe it's related? And I've been mulling over the idea of using the sunflower as a personal symbol. Or have already decided more like it.
