Help interpreting this dream

Postby kalicokitty » Wed Sep 18, 2013 9:10 am

ok, so last saturday my mom made one of the hardest decisions in her life. she euthanized her seventeen year old poodle. she'd had the poodle for almost all of those years and he was very near and dear to her. in my opinion this was the right decision, he was blind, deaf, fecally and urinary incontinent, had severe joint pain, and most times he seemed to be...it was like the lights were on and no one was home. the decision has really hit her hard. she just walks around crying, doesnt say much, and when she does talk, she's so quiet you can barely hear her. she feels guilty for euthanizing, sure that there was something she could have done, though she doesn't know what that might be.

anyways for the past three nights since he died, ive been having dreams where he's running through the house. in my mind he's the same he was before he died, only more mobile. i also know he's supposed to be dead. the first two nights i asked my mom if she saw him too and she never answered. last night he had some stuffing from a pillow in his mouth. i tried to grab it and he bit my hand. not hard, but enough that firstly i felt it in my sleep and secondly i couldn't easily get my hand back. I led him to my mother and said, "you see him too, right?" she gave me a sad and angry look and said something to the effect of, "this isnt ok, stop it."

WHAT IS GOING ON????? its starting to freak me out a little. the only other dreams that had feelings this sharp are the ones i get stabbed to death in (had those for as long as i can remember). Does the dog want something? is this just my mind trying to catch up with the fact that the dog whose been with my mom for as long as i can remember is gone or what?? i wasn't upset when he got euthanized. i felt like he was already gone and we were releasing the last thing holding him here.

I have heard it be said when an animal bits you in the dreamtime it is giving you its medicine.
I think it is pretty normal to be dreaming about the dog in his better days, and it is likely to be running happily in the Summeralnd, so you may be getting a sense of that as well. This may have been very hard for your Mom and on some level she is trying to brush it away, and you are picking up on that..in the " this isn't ok" part of the dream...it wasn't ok for her to have to loose the dog.
As time goes on these will fade, but I understand how real it must feel for you.
