instead of a halloween pumpkin

Postby Witch13 » Wed Oct 20, 2010 4:15 am

This is an idea of mine for those of us who cant have a big carved pumpkin.
ingredients:
a big orange orange
a handfull clovers (the spice)

using a red pen draw a face on your orange like you would for your pumpkin (red is used so that it wont be as visible as black or blue later)
now use the clovers to prick that face on your orange, pressing them might make your fingers ouchy :?
when you are done leave the orange in a dry place, a few days later the clovers will mix their aroma with that of the orange and the orange itself will eventually shrink. Keep the orange after halloween in your closet so that your clothes get the perfume.

it helps if you place the orange on your house heater, that way it dries faster

That's cute! :D
Breathing in I feel gratitude; Breathing out I give thanks.
Breathing in I feel joyful; Breathing out I celebrate.
Breathing in I know compassion; Breathing I am compassion.
Breathing in I feel loved; Breathing out I offer love.
Breathing in I am still; Breathing out I am at peace.
Om.

I once read about a similar project for Christmas (Yule). In that version, you cover the entire orange with cloves and tie a ribbon (usually red in color or with a holiday theme). The article referred to the finished project as a "scented pomander". But the Samhain variation sounds cute :D .
Growing from mud, although challenging, offers great promise.

This makes the house or room smell nice also.
Great Idea.
