Witch Hazel

Postby Ula » Mon May 23, 2011 2:31 pm

With summer coming I made some Witch Hazel oil last night. It's good for sun burn, poison ivy, rash or hemorrhoids as well as varicose veins. Don't use it on open skin.

1/2 cup Witch Hazel, dry or fresh
1 cup water

Boil for two minutes

When cool strain and add 1 cup oil (olive or veg) to "tea". Boil on low until water is gone. Put in container and refrigerate. Use clean cotton cloth, balls or pads on area.

I get poison ivy really bad and it's great to use.

Yeah I made a version of Witch hazel oil, but because I am so sun sensitive and I need to apply it everywhere I added it to my lotion, and sunscreen. Some people actually use petroleum jelly to mix to help the witch hazel stick.
