How I practice is that there are 3 days of full moon. the day before, the day of, and the day after. I do this just because sometimes I am busy on the actual full moon. Last night I finally wasn't, thank goodness. Here are some things that I am doing tonight, though.
on the full moon, I made my Full Moon water, with an offering of high quality incense for infusing the water with power for an hour. I set it out at 11:30, so it would sit out after midnight.
Ingredients:
Pure Spring Water (If you got this water from the spring/lake/pond yourself, the more powerful it will be)
3 Gardenia petals
3 apple leaves
I let this absorb the light of the moon, and infuse itself. (Gardenia and Apple are moon associated, in my opinion.)
Tonight I will perform an actual ritual using the full moon water. This will be a simple full moon chant, with handmade noncombustible incense (just flowers and herbs burned on a piece of hookah charcoal). Beforehand, I will take a ritual shower (I can't bathe, I'm too far along in my pregnancy to get that low to the floor). I wish to decorate my altar with fresh white roses, gardenia and Jasmine. I will be anointed, and with the noncombustible incense, I am going to burn a vanilla incense. I will anoint myself with the full moon water on the forehead in the shape of the goddess symbol, my chest with the pentacle, and my belly with a yoni (fertility) symbol.
Full Moon Incense:
3 parts white rose petals
3 parts gardenia petals
1 spoonful of frankincense
1 part white honeysuckle flowers
1 pinch lavender, I use a mix of Spanish, French and English
Full Moon chant:
Wondrous lady of the moon
You who greets the dusk with silvered kisses;
mistress of the night and of all magics,
who rides the clouds in blackened skies
and spills light upon the coldearth;
o lunar Goddess,
crescented-one,
shadow maker and shadow breaker;
revealer of mysteries past and present;
puller of seas and ruler of women;
all-wise lunar Mother,
I greetyour celestial jewel
at the waxing of its powers
with a rite in your honor.
I pray by the moon,
I pray by the moon,
I pray by the moon.*
