Cleansing and Charging

Postby Mikhael » Thu Jul 15, 2010 12:52 am

Today I took a trip to a spiritual store and invested in an athame. The one I currently have was owned by someone before me so I needed one without someone elses energies flowing through it.

I intend to clean it and sand the handle down. Perhaps paint the handle? I haven't decided yet. What I do want to know, however, is how to cleanse and charge a ceremonial item like this, and what time period would be a good time to do so?

Cheers

To cleanse ritual tools
Tools / Ingredients:

Standard Ritual Tools
Ritual jewelry or tools to clean and recharge
You will need elemental representatives (Air, Fire, Water and Earth – you are the representative for Spirit) for this brief ritual.

Directions:

Hold the item clasped in your right hand over your heart.

Air, Fire, Water, Water and Spirit – I bring this (item) before you to be cleansed and consecrated.

Run the item through the incense or other Air representative.

Please cleanse this (item) with the element of Air. Remove any energies that will not serve me and send them back into the Earth.

Run the item over the candle flame or other Fire representative.

Please cleanse this (item) with the element of Fire. Remove any energies that will not serve me and send them back into the Earth.

Place the item in some water or other Water representative.

Please cleanse this (item) with the element of Water. Remove any energies that will not serve me and send them back into the Earth.

Place the item in some salt or other Earth representative.

Please cleanse this (item) with the element of Earth. Remove any energies that will not serve me and send them back into the Earth.

Leave the item in the salt for a moment longer.

Please bless this (item) with the element of Earth. Align its energies to my own.

Place item back into water.

Please bless this (item) with the element of Earth. Align its energies to my own.

Run item back over candle flame.

Please bless this (item) with the element of Fire. Align its energies to my own.

Run item back through incense.

Please bless this (item) with the element of Air. Align its energies to my own.

Hold the item clasped in your right hand over your heart.

This (item) is now blessed with the element of Spirit. Its energies are aligned to my own.
To the elements: Thank you for your blessings and farewell.

Full moon would be best to absorb the rays of the moon in all her power.
