Re: Prayer methods
I think there is a difference between ritual "speak" and personal prayer. I tend to be more formal in ritual then in my personal devotions. I do have a couple of more formal prayers written out to my matrons because I'm a former Catholic and I see value in having both written, more formal ...

Re: How have your pantheons chose you?
Hecate gave me lots of signs: the torch rune kept coming up, I kept getting the Moon card in Tarot with the two dogs and two torches, I kept coming across torches, I kept running into Her or running across artwork of Her in books or online. I had a couple of significant moments by Y shaped crossroad...

Solar Eclipse spells and rituals?
I want to do something but don't know what, since I just did a banishing ritual in this dark moon. Maybe repeat it? Ideas?

Re: Previous religious vows
Well, I did a ritual asking for release from the vows. I acknowledged to the God and Goddess that I had made these vows and that I was now unable to keep them. "I come before the Divine and acknowledge that I made vows to follow a specific way of life and believe a certain way. I find myself ne...

Re: Why did you join wicca?
There's a lot of reasons. It fits my worldview and my theological view best in most ways, I love that it has a Goddess, that it is nature based, that there is magick in it. But ultimately, it called to me, strongly, for many years. I don't know that I have a choice, really. I don't know that Wicca s...

Re: Hecate calling me?
I'm Hecate's. :) Her and the Morrigan are my matrons. In my case, there were a lot of signs She was calling me. I kept running across torches everywhere; drew the torch rune several times. I did my dedication to begin my year and a day of study outdoors and as I turned to leave, I realized the place...

Anyone too nocturnal?
I'm a night person. Always have been. I physically, mentally and spiritually feel best in the evening/night. Night is my time to do my witchy stuff :flyingwitch: to write, to read, to play video games...to do the things that I enjoy. Day time is for doing the things that have to be done. I read Noct...

Re: Does a God/Goddess ever want you to work with just them?
Ok, I didn't think so...and since I'm more duotheistic in my beliefs then it really shouldn't be an issue for me.
Thanks!

Does a God/Goddess ever want you to work with just them?
Maybe a stupid question, but I had been researching various Goddesses, not expecting to find my matron anytime soon; rather looking for several Goddesses I felt comfortable working with. I kept being drawn towards the darker ones (Nyx, Hecate, the Morrigan) or goddesses that had some sort of underwo...

Re: What's On Your Altar, & Why?
My altar is a permanent one. I have a picture of Hecate in the middle, on the Goddess side a picture of a Goddess who could either be Hecate or Nyx, and on the God side a picture of Odin. I have a large vial of sea salt, an incense holder and my wand, a red candle and my athame, a grey-blue containe...

Re: Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft - Good or Bad?
I'm reading it now for the first time as part of my pagan book club. So far, I really like it. I think the workbook format makes it good for someone starting out.

Re: previous religious vows
Not all of the vows that we made are "wicked", per se, but we may have found that we have images and duties that we have held on even after they have stopped serving us. It doesn't seem like you are doing yourself or Jesus and Mary any good by holding onto a vow that you don't really keep...

Re: previous religious vows
Your path can change. You're the only one who can really decide if that's what you're facing. Maybe you need to ask for a formal release from your vows. Not so much from the church, but from yourself. I hadn't thought of that. Technically, too, I could ask for a formal release from my vows, but I'd...

Previous religious vows
“Somewhere, deep in your memory, you know the ancient ways. This is why you find yourself drawn by a deep-seated urge. An urge so powerful that you don’t even question it or fight it. You long for it.” That quote resonates with me so much. I, even in my happiest times as a Catholic, continued to fee...
